A smaller version of the Iwo Jima Memorial--The design of the sculpture by Felix de Weldon was based on the iconic photo Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima, taken during the Battle of Iwo Jima by Associated Press photographer Joe Rosenthal.

The memorial features the Marines and Sailor who raised the second flag over Iwo Jima: Sgt Michael Strank, Cpl Harlon Block, PFC Franklin Sousley, PFC Rene Gagnon, PFC Ira Hayes, PM2 John Bradley.

I liked your photos of Parris Island. I am a Mom of a son who hopes to graduate 6-20. I am so excited to see him. Any tips? I worry every day if he is going to make it. His letters are encouraging most of the time. Congrats!!! To you.
