I was in Montreal for about one week in june 2000. Montreal is located at the St. Lawrence River and it is the second-largest french-speaking city in the world (Population: 3,5 million).
Montreal has as many historic as postmodern sights. The old agricultural marketplace Bonsecours Market, the City Hall and the famous Notre-Dame Basilica are situated in Vieux Montreal in walking distance to the Place Jacques-Quartier. The Hochelaga-Maisonneuve sector is home to the Olympic Park, with the tallest inclined tower of the world at the Olympic Stadium.
Last but not least Montreal has numerous shops, boutiques and stores in downtown Montreal including the Underground City. As Montreal is home for about 80 different ethnic groups it offers excellent dining possibilities.
