Toronto, Ontario - On the waterfront

by HORSCHECK - last update: May 31, 2006

In June 2000 I was for about one week in Toronto in Ontario. It is a cosmopolitan and multicultural city.

Toronto combines modern architecture (e.g Financial district, New City Hall) with historic buildings (e.g. Castle Casa Loma, Old City Hall). It offers plenty of amazing sights (e.g. CN Tower, Sky Dome), busy shopping areas for all tastes and budgets (e.g. Yonge Street, Eaton Centre) as well as peaceful nature and beaches (e.g. Toronto Islands).

Don't forget to explore the many ethnic quarters of Toronto: Chinatown, Portugesetown, Greektown, Cabbage Town and many more are worth a visit.

Last but not least you can do an unforgettable daytrip by coach or train to the famous Niagara falls at the border to the USA.

I would love to go up the CN Tower! I was in Toronto in 1973 and it wasn't even built then ;-) But Niagara - what a sight!!

Eight years since you last visited Toronto. Quite a city eh!! You managed to see most of the attractions there and our famous Niagara Falls. Also thanks Holger for checking out my Tangier page.

Holger, now that you have seen the USA, perhaps you might venture into it next time? Will check out more of these tips later. Bill
