Podgorica Travel Guide: 56 reviews and 103 photos

In summer 2010 we explored Montenegro for almost 2 weeks. On this trip Podgorica was our starting point as well as the city from where we left the country.

With a population of less than 150.000 people Podgorica is one of the smallest capitals in Europe. Due to its almost total destruction during World War II, the city nowadays has not many exciting sights to offer.

Many of the buildings in the city centre date from the socialist era of Yugoslavia, when Podgorica was named Titograd. One of the newer well worth seeing landmarks is the Millenium Bridge (Most Milenijum), which was opened in 2005.

Nice bridge! A day trip to Cetinje sounds interesting to do.

A great page on the Montenegrin capital, Holger! Montenegro currently forms a little grey circle surrounded by blue on my VT map - I'll have to put that right soon!
It's official - we have an English-German Champions League final - who'd have predicted that?
Congratulations to Borussia Monchengladbach - it'll be good to see you back in European competition next season! :-)

We visited Podgorice in 2005. And we went to Cetinje as well to see a doctor there. Wish I had taken photos, lovely to see yours :)

Nice page, Holger. It's amazing that such a small town has two international airports. I hadn't realized that this was the former Titograd.

Hi Holger, Nice page, the bridge looks magnificent. Pity the Taxi driver left the metre on, otherwise you would have felt better.

Get in and get out, sounds like my experience with Skopje! Nothing wrong with pizza for dinner though :-)

Holger, how interesting that Montenegro uses the Euro. I did not realise that. Seems like you had a good time in Podgorica sampling the local beer!

Podgorica looks to be a lovely little town in Montenegro. Again you found a local beer to enjoy.

Another nice page Holger. Didn't get to Podgorica myself but enjoyed Cetinje a lot.
