I travelled from Croatia via Slovenia to Italy (Mediterranean Europe) in August 2004. After Zagreb in Croatia I visited the Slovenian capital Ljubljana for 4 days. With only 350.000 inhabitans it is one of the smallest European capitals.
Ljubljana has a nice Baroque Old Town with many historical and architectural sights. The Castle Hill and the river Ljubljanica give the town its relaxing atmosphere; whereas about 50.000 students make the city young and lively.
Ljubljana's central location in Slovenia makes it a good starting point for daytrips. I took a train trip to Bohinjska Bistrica and spent some time in both Bled and Skofja Loka.

May be in winter as I would discover some Slovenian ski resorts. Thanks for your refreshing tip on Radenska mineral water ;-) |
