Central Market

The historic Central Market building (Nagy vasarcsarnok) was inaugurated in 1897. The two levels with uncountable market stalls for local food and crafts shopping are the perfect place for an indoor stroll. The upper level is packed with take away stalls, that offer local hungarian specialities, including cheap beer.

Directions: The Central Market is situated on the Pest side of the Szabadsag hid (Freedom Bridge), just at Fovam ter.

Inner City Market Hall

The Inner City Market Hall (Belvarosi Vasarcsarnok) was built in 1897 and is much smaller than the Central Market. It has been newly restored and houses many fruit and vegetables stalls, clothes shops and food bars which serve local meals for lunch.

Directions: The Inner City Market Hall is located on Hold utca in central Pest just behind Szabadsag ter.
