  • For a rainy weekend day I recommend a visit of the Public Transport Museum. It is located in an old tramway depot and has more than 40 historical vehicles (buses, trams) from 1886 to the present day. Apart from that it shows many models, photographs, and all kind of historical documents.
The musuem is opened from March to November on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

The museum is located at Patockova 4 in Praha 6 (Stresovice). The nearest Metro Station is Hradcanska (line A).

  • The Velky Strahovsky Stadium, also known as Spartakiadi Stadium, was place of the biggest sports event in the world. About 240.000 people were in this stadium for the Spartakiade in 1967. The monumental building of the communist era is nowadays destined to decay, but well worth an impressive visit.

The Velky Strahovsky Stadium is located in Prague Strahov just west of the green Petrin park.

  • Take a daytrip by train to the bohemian village of Kutna Hora which is declared as a world heritage. The famous St. Barbara's Cathedral of Kutna Hora is one of the most beautiful Czech Gothic buildings.
The village is located about 75 km east of Prague. A return train ticket was about 158 CZK in 2003 (about 3,50 EURO).

  • Take a daytrip by train to the famous Gothic Castle of Karlstejn. The medieval castle was built between 1348 and 1355 to deposit the Empire coronation jewels and state documents.

It is located on a hill and offers great views of the surrounding area. The way up the hill is packed with tourist stalls selling every kind of souvenirs.

Karlstejn ist located about 35 km southwest of Prague. A return train ticket was 112 CZK in 2003 (less than 2 EURO).

Hans and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Prague. It's such a wonderful city - so much to see and do. I don't think I've ever walked so much in one city. Informative page Holger.

We visited Prague in 1980 - I imagine it's changed a lot since then though your tips & photos reminded me of several sights I remember, and others I'd forgotten ;)

Thanks to show us Prague. Tram 22 is a good tip for crossing the town, Tram 11 is better to have a real Pils (lol) Greetz and happy X-mas
