Favorite Thing: As it gets dark relatively early in Zagreb, you shouldn't miss a stroll around the town in darkness. Some historical buildings and squares of Zagreb are beautifully illuminated at night. Among them is the Jelacic Square, the Croatian National Theatre and the Fortification Towers near the cathedral (For more night shots, please have a look at my travelogue "Zagreb by night").

Favorite Thing: Zagreb is packed with architectural interesting sights and buildings. Among the most famous are the two Neo-Gothic bell towers, the Romanesque Lotrscak Tower or the various architectural styles of the buildings surrounding Jelacic Square. Near the train station are a few more amazing buildings, including the Art-Nouveau style Hotel Esplanade which was built in 1925.

Favorite Thing: Many well worth seeing statues are in and around the city centre of Zagreb. The most famous is probably the horse statue at the Jelacic Square. Other nice statues include August Senoa leaning against an advertisement pillar (at the corner of Vlaska and J. Branjug Street) or St. George on a horse (near Kamenita vrata). Many more can be seen all around the town, so just keep your eyes open ...

Favorite Thing: A great resource for information about travels to Eastern or Central Europe is "In Your Pocket". It provides information of more than 50 cities at the travel portal www.inyourpocket.com. About 20 printed full city guides are available locally at various places including kiosks. The guides are most comprehensive, up to date and honest. Please have a look at the webpage when planning a trip to Eastern or Central Europe: In Your Pocket
