I visited Zagreb twice; the first time in August 2004 at the beginning of a two weeks trip through Mediterranean Europe. My second visit of Zagreb was a one night stay in September 2012 when we were travelling from Bihac (Bosnia and Herzegovina) to Ljubljana (Slovenia).
The Croatian capital has almost 800.000 inhabitans and is located in the north of the country. Zagreb is well worth more than just a daytrip from the Croatian coastline.
Zagreb offers many architectural interesting buildings and squares as well as picturesque open air markets and beautiful green parks.
Croatia and especially Zagreb has a very active VT scene. So on both of my trips I met some local VT members, who made my stays special and unforgettable.

Great new tips and photos!
Excellent updates here since my last visit almost ten years ago. These old Tatra tram still seem to run pretty well :-) Also, seems they have made *some* progress at least with the restoration of the cathedral.

Holger, I enjoyed your page, brought back memories of our visit, the Upper Town Cathedral and other buildings. We only had an overnight stay as our flight home was next morning. Makes me want to return.
What a fabulous country and city! The city is so rich with history and the buildings are so beautiful. I think it is wonderful you get to see so many wonderful places and share those places for folks like myself get to enjoy. Thanks, excellent page.
Paying our first visit to Zagreb in May, just one day en route from Vienna to Brac but better than nothing. MrL's going to love those Kremsnita!
