  • The annual Notting Hill Carnival is supposed to be Europe's biggest multi-cultural arts festival. It takes place in the borough of Notting Hill (Tube: Ladbroke Grove) at the last weekend in August.
Artists from all around the world are encouraged to celebrate their cultural traditions through art, dance and music.
Last but not least all sorts of international food and drink stalls are lining the streets of the area.

  • The Woolwich Ferry is free and crosses the River Thames between the town of Woolwich and North Woolwich (not far from London City Airport). It runs seven days per week and offers great river views. In the distance the Thames Barrier can be seen. The crossing time is approximately 15 minutes.

  • London - Quaker Meeting House in Jordans
  • Quaker Meeting House in Jordans

  • Take a trip to Jordans, which is a small community near Beaconsfield in South Buckinghamshire. The place is famous for its early Quaker activities. It consists of a Meeting House, which was built in 1688, the Mayflower barn, which is said to be constructed from the remains of the Mayflower ship and some more historical buildings. William Penn (1644-1718), the founder of Pennsylvania is buried on the grounds of the Meeting House.
I had the pleasure to attend a Quaker wedding of an English friend of mine in Jordans and I realised that it is quite a historic place well worth visiting.

Jordans is located about 25 miles northwest of London. The next train station is Seer Green (3/4 mile on foot) which is served from London Marylebone.

Good updates Holger! South Ealing is my local station and has a unique feature among all tube stations - do you know what that is?

London is also one of my favourite cities in the world! I really enjoyed reading of your latest VT meetings there but also your Sports tips - since I love football and rugby! My wife's parents used to live beside Gatwick, so I'm familiar with the area.
