On my Scandinavia trip in May and June 2004 I stayed 6 days in the royal Swedish capital Stockholm. It has about 750.000 inhabitants and is built on 14 islands.
Stockholm is a fabulous mixture of city life, green parks and water. The shores offer panoramic views of the city. Many historical buildings can be seen in the Old Town "Gamla Stan", whereas plenty of museums (e.g. Vasa Museum) and other sights (e.g. Telecommunications Tower) can be found in other parts of the city.
Stockholm has uncountable restaurants, cafes and pubs that I mainly explored with some other lovely VT members.
"The use of travelling is to regulate imagination by reality, and, instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are." --- Samuel Johnson ---

marielexoteria Wed Jun 3, 2009 11:31 UTC Excellent page and great tips and photos. | TheWanderingCamel Wed Jun 3, 2009 10:35 UTC A very long time since I was in Stockholm, Holger. The Vasa was still being preserved, we slept in a bunk on the af Chapman and it was so expensive we could afford only the cheapest restaurants! Still thought it was beautiful. Maybe I'll get back one day | pure1942 Wed May 13, 2009 22:03 UTC Another nice page of yours Holger. Also enjoyed the Vasa Museum a lot. The boat trip around the archipelago is my best memory of Stockhom though. Thanks for jogging my memories :) Brian | Tripack Mon Mar 31, 2008 20:01 UTC Gruetzi Holger! Thanks for your BD wishes. BBQ time is too early in Wallis... should close my Après ski season first (till end of April). You forget to mention the cow parade in Zürich. See you soon for a beer review @ Karlsruhe! |
