| Sorrento at the Amalfi Coast |
I stayed about 1 week in Sorrento at the Gulf of Naples in October 1998. Sorrento has about 17.000 inhabitants and is situated on a terrace enclosed by sheer cliffs of the rocky Amalfi Coast.
The touristy city has many restaurants, cafes and shops. It is quite a perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast with its amazing bays and small beaches inbetween steep cliffs. Towns like Positano and Amalfi are well worth a visit.
Apart from that, the island of Capri and Italy's most chaotic city Naples with the Vesuvio can be explored in daytrips.

Great page about this picturesque area, bringing back sweet memories. I spent there two nights in 1996. In 1990th there were a lot of liqueurs here in Moscow from Italy including Limoncello... Thanks, Holger! |
