| Sorrento at the Amalfi Coast |
I stayed about 1 week in Sorrento at the Gulf of Naples in October 1998. Sorrento has about 17.000 inhabitants and is situated on a terrace enclosed by sheer cliffs of the rocky Amalfi Coast.
The touristy city has many restaurants, cafes and shops. It is quite a perfect base to explore the Amalfi Coast with its amazing bays and small beaches inbetween steep cliffs. Towns like Positano and Amalfi are well worth a visit.
Apart from that, the island of Capri and Italy's most chaotic city Naples with the Vesuvio can be explored in daytrips.

hopang Sat Aug 22, 2009 17:40 UTC Interesting Sorrento page! The beautiful coastline certainly looks amazing, and so is the blue island of Capri. Positano and Amalfi sound wonderful to visit and explore. Thanks for sharing. ~ho & pang | margaretvn Sun Aug 2, 2009 09:52 UTC Enjoyed your page - we spent a week in Sorrento after a very busy week in Rome and we loved it | LoriPori Mon Jul 13, 2009 12:53 UTC No wonder the tourists flock to this area. I remember the sea at Sorrento being a beautiful shade of aquamarine. Great transportation tips. Beautiful photos! |
