I've just arrived in Kazakhstan from Mongolia (on a flight from Oolgy and am finding it quite nice. It's like I imagined Russia. Lot's of white people, some with bad pink dyed hair. Also, many ethnic Kazaks here. I visited the Dostoevsky Museum and got a personal tour in Russian (which I don't speak). I've just been walking around town enjoying the food. The weather is quite nice now (September).

The main hotel in town Hotels (1)

The place is the biggest in town. I paid $10 for a 1/2 night (I arrived at 1am) and then $17 for the next night. It's... more travel advice
