Welcome to Matsue

by yumyum - last update: Mar 24, 2006

In the "water city" Matsue a feudal lord built a castle at the beginning of the 17th century. This was the beginning of the city. The area was settled earlier than that of course.

The most famous person of Matsue was Lafcadio Hearn aka Koizumi Yakumo.

Matsue has about 150000 inhabitants. Average temperature in February is 3.6 C and in August 27.8 C.
Like anywhere in Japan, also Matsue has its own design of sewage lids.
