Our train from Kosice via Chop to Lviv travelled through here. Our nice provodnik (conductor) told me to look out for a big castle. Unfortunately, we were bound for Lviv and had no time to get off here, but it definitely would have been worthwhile.
Mukachevo has changed souvereignity many times from belonging to Kievan Rus to Hungary, Ruthanian rule, Transylvania, Austria, Soviet Union and present day Ukraine. Sometimes it went back to a previous ruler. |
