Parks and Squares: Strolling around the parks...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: Strolling around the parks which is a huge difference if you are there in October when all the leaves on the trees turn shine yellow or when it is warm and the days never seem to end.

    Cathedrals and Churches: Chesma Church
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: I fell in love with this little church at first sight. It is near Moskovskaya Metro station.

    Personal Observations: Cats
  • Tip Rating:
  • Favorite Thing: There are some really pretty and friendly cats in this city. Sometimes they come right up to you and most of them are very dusty and don't look very white anymore. But there are some real gems among them. Some of them belong to someone and others just get feed by passerbys. I discovered these beauties when I took a walk with local member yos_moes.

This also applies to dogs, which can roam the streets in packs. Luckily they have always been friendly.

Thanks for visiting my Split page, Sonja! St Petersburg is a city that I'd very much like to visit some day...probably in spring time. Thanks for the informative tips and wonderful photos!

Enjoyed reading yr tips and seeing yr pics of St.Pete. I lived here for 5 years and still consider it one of my 2nd homes. Loved the dog in the pack on a bike pic. Did you see the 'official' Ermitage cats who reside there as mouse catchers? Tim

Very interesting for me to read about St Petersburg and to see your sunny photos - when we were there it was still Leningrad and very cold & snowy. PS loved the cat photos too :)

I envy you the experience of living in St Petersburg. The reality is probably not as romantic as the idea but it makes great reading. Very practical tips, especially transport and accommodation. Hope I can use them soon :))
