Local Lore Museum - Panevezys

Local Lore Museum

Local lore museum

This museum is rather interesting as it features a whole variety of things. From local history to a butterfly collection and modern art in the cellar (where they used to torture people in other times) there is a lot to discover. Entry fee was 2 litas and I was told that hardly ever any foreigners visit the place.
If you search for old places in the city and the street names have changes, then this is the place to ask. A museum historian helped me find the places and actually came with me. They sell 3 sets of old postcards from the times end of 19th/beginning of 20th century.

The museum is called: Panevezio Krastotyros Muziejus.

Laisves Square

This is the place where people meet. There are several cafés and restaurants. Also the tourist office is here and the bus station is just off the square. Actually, all major sights are close to this square.
