Panevezys Travel Guide: 12 reviews and 27 photos

In September 2003 the city celebrates its 500th anniversary. It is situated midway between Vilnius and Riga. Unfortunately the city has been distroyed in both wars so that only few old buildings remain.

On the pictures there is freedom square. The County Tourism Information center is in Laisves no. 11 (phone/fax +370 45 50 80 80 or 81, email: pantic@takas.lt

Panevezys is suited for an overnight stop or as a base for daytrips into the surrounding countryside.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Very clean
  • Cons:Not so much to see depending on the interest
  • In a nutshell:To be used as an overnight stop or base into the countryside

It's a fine looking museum to me, one day when I return to this country I will have to come and explore it for myself.

I really did not think that it is possible to make such a big page on Panevezys (I was there several times to visit friends)

I opened this page just to see where this place is and I am glad I did. Fantastic photos and tips. That Russian church looks like mine kind of place too.

Did they torture people in other times by showing them modern art in the cellar?
