Zaslawye Travel Guide: 14 reviews and 38 photos
Zaslavl is a very old town dating back to the 10th century when Vladimir the Great sent his wife to live here.
We came here as a side trip from Minsk which took about half a day. On the train we met some local Minsk people which also were on an outing that Saturday. Shenya spoke English and his Russian wife Shenya had printed out information about the town. So we ended up spending time sightseeing together. Thank you both for showing us around :-)
- In a nutshell:A must half-day trip from Minsk!

I just finished a book on this area. Quite a history and your trip sounds fantastic with wonderful sites. Keep on "truckin" as we say in crude USA
How nice that you made new friends on the train with whom you could explore this lovely town! Like you I love the brightly painted wooden houses - and your great photo of the gost crossing the railway line ;-) What a beautiful blue sky you had too - it makes the churches especially look so good in the photos!
A very interesting trip to the town which is even older than Moscow! Hope to find myself there someday when visiting Belarus... Thank you Sonja for sharing!
The colourful wooden houses looks pretty. It was from this town I got a postcard from you (Thanks again!).
What a beautiful town. Love the wooden houses and especially the one where the ethnographic museum is located at. Funny icecream - Rotkäppchen :-)
Looks like a nice day out
More beautiful wooden houses and churches! YAY! Very interesting page. The Swiss train (Stadler Rail?) looks totally out of place, LOL!
Interesting little place with its charming architecture and peaceful setting. Almost seems as if it was from another time in history. Nice photos!
Hi Sonja, I enjoyed seeing you again last week at the VT meetings in Paris. I’m glad to see that you have started posting pages on Belarus. This seems to be quite a contradictory place, with modern Swiss trains but only hole-in-the-ground toilets at the station. Good that you met some local Minsk people who showed you around.
Good to see Papa Lenin still standing there and not thrown into the garbidge like in other places ! ;-)
