Imatra Travel Guide: 21 reviews and 56 photos
I first got to Imatra thanks to Risto, who took VTers vitochka, Amala and myself there in July 2005. I only found out after several hours that Risto is also a VT member.
My second visit in March 2008 was thanks to Natalya_2006 who wanted a swim and took her host Amala from Luumaeki and me to the Imatra spa in her car.
Imatra is in southern Karelia and next to the Russian border.
Risto from Lappeenranta (raton), Marja-Liisa from Luumaeki (Amala), myself and Vika from Vladivostock(Vitochka)
A small VT outing.
- Pros:Lovely small town!
- In a nutshell:Don't miss the rushing waters!

What a lovely page! The State Hotel and falls looks amazing.
Thanks for visiting Imatra with me.
The walking path along the river and the Spa are definitely great spots to relax.
What a luxury to build such a place just to see the waterfall for a few minutes a day ;-))) ...and the Mossies are having a great time there as well
Imatra seems to be a nice place!
Fabulous updates here. They seem to have an interesting locking system in the Imatran Kylpyla Spa. :-)
Even in Austrian Alps it is planned to let the water down for a few minutes on former waterfalls which will be lost lost for hydroelectric power. Reminds me a bit of a WC...
Ah, this is more to my like :-)) I remember a tiny place in Sweden where there was also a dam and all people gathered to watch the opening :-))
Nice opening shot I think the wait to see the cascading waters would be worth it - interesting page
Impressive intro picture. However I can't hear water and music on VT :-(. The Jazz Festival sounds interesting for me.
Another lovely page...great tips and photos.
