"Welcome to Hendaye - Hendaia" Hendaye by yumyum

Hendaye Travel Guide: 5 reviews and 27 photos

We came to Hendaye (or Hendaia as it is called in Basque) as a half day trip from San Sebastian-Donostia. Unfortunately, the weather became worse and worse and I got totally soaked. We walked from the Donostia Metro to the old casino at Hendaye-Plage.

We couldn't have chosen a worse day because it turned out that it was a public holiday and most shops and the tourist office were closed.

If the weather is nice then there are a few sights to be explored and there are plenty of walks along the seaside.

A pity luck wasn't with you here! Doesn't look to bad a place for sightseeing.

Too bad about the weather and that many places were closed. The chocolate cafe sounds to be very nice though!

Yes, it does look quite rainy in your photos. I think it's nice to have a few (not too many) rainy day photos on VT, just as a contrast to the masses of sunny day photos.

seems to be nice place for walking. Although last March, when I had the train-lines change, it was raining and I just was drinking coffee in the cafe opposite the railway station :-)

Such a shame about the wet weather - I can see that the chocolate cafe must have been a very welcome haven!

Though the weather was bad I hope you enjoyed this city in spite of you've got soaked. The old casino looks not worse than the casino in Monte Carlo, haha!

Excellent little page with photos which look much better as the weather actually was. The Chocolate Cafe was the highlight of the day.
