This former British Hill Resort lies on 1890 meters above sea level. If you arrive in the evening then come prepared with a sweater and long pants. Around Nuwara Eliya there are lots of tea plantations and factories. That's mainly what you come to look at.

I see some food tips here and huh, some Swiss chocolate, was that real Swiss or....?
So this is where the tea comes from! Glad to see they also sell good old Swiss Toblerone. My daughter is in Sri Lanka right now with her family, but I don't think they are planning to go up into the hills.
Wow - what a travel map - almost alllll blue!!! Must explore more, never made it to Sri Lanka but loved India mainland.
It looks so beautiful! Your Sri Lanka pages are great!
I can see why the lush green countryside would be good for growing tea.
Interesting little page. So it looks like the Europeans buy the clothes which they had just donated in Europe. I am glad to see that plenty of chocolate is available in Sri Lanka, so I should take it as a travel destination into account. *winkygrin*
I would love to visit Sri Lanka, so thanks for the beautiful photos of the countryside! The cold weather clothes tip was funny - when I was living in Papua NG, my company issued me a 'clothing allowance' for a business trip to frigid S. Korea!
Great sceneries, tea and used clothes sold from a truck! I have to see it someday!
Actually come to think of it Ifancy a cuppa :-) nice tips
Great pics & tips...brought back fond memories!
