Local Architecture in Santillana del Mar

Don't think that Spain is one country. Sure, you have Galicia, Euskadi, and Catalonia along with Castillian Spain, but the Spanish State also encompasses Andalucia, Valencia, Extremadura, Austurias, Navarra... the list is endless.

Don't see Spain as the Costas, get away and travel. The people are friendly, and the further away from the tourist hordes, the better the experience.

Food, drink, fiestas, architecture, countryside, and history are all there to explore, with weather systems ranging from the wet of the Costa Vasca, to the snows of the Picos, to the sun of Andalucia, to the coldness of the Madrid winter.
