For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.

  • Name of Shop: Barleycorn

More than just a gift and card shop, Barleycorn is a cut above the usual experience in this area as it has many other items from around the world that set it aside from the tacky gift shops that are seen in most seaside towns.

UPDATE: From April 1st 2008 the shop is under new management and is now called "Barley Mow".

What To Buy: Costume jewellery as well as cards and other gifts

    Griggs: Fresh Fish?

  • Name of Shop: Griggs

Less of a shop than a small warehouse unit where the fish from the local inshore fishng boats comes in to be sold.

You need to be quick as much of the catch is destined for London restaurants and some is even taken to France for their restaurants.

    What To Buy: Fish!

Blimey, Gurka food. We ate curry when we scaled the highest peak in the Danish mountain range this summer. For 2 of our party it was to be their undoing - See my Silkeborg travelogue - Mike in "Barking Town"
