Restaurant Name: The Hungry Eye changed name - now Everest

The Hungry Eye opened last year in place of the Italian restaurant. It's a Ghurka restaurant and features Nepalese food!

IN 2004 it closed and re-opened (twice) and re-opened latterly as Everest, once agian doing Nepalese food.

Favorite Dish: All the dishes I have tried, curries of one type or another, are really good.

Restaurant Name: The Globe Inn

Not a restaurant but a pub.. and has to go here as there is no PUB section to put it in!

The owner keeps a good selection of beers and wine in his cellar and as well as a cheery welcome you can be sure of a decent pint!

Favorite Dish: The pub is a Shepherd Neame pub and has all the beer's that this local Kent brewery outputs....

Restaurant Name: The Prince of Wales

Large pub on the western outskirts of the town.

Plenty of parking, plenty of room and good bar food. Plus a selection of "free house" beers, wines and spirits.

The restaurant is open at weekends all year round and every day in the summer. The food is traditionally British and good value for money.

Plus on a Wednesday it's a biker haunt and has been for years.

Favorite Dish: Steak and chips etc

Restaurant Name: Hythe Railway Station Cafe

As long as I have been coming to Hythe and all the time I have lived here, the same faces have appeared behind the counter of the cafe.

Over the years we have acquired grey hairs together and after all that, I have no idea what they are called!

My motorcycle club meets at the cafe on Sundays around seven or eight times a year for breakfast before we take to the roads.

In addition it's a good place to stop off when cycling along Kent Cycle Route 2 and sited between the Military Canal and the Light Railway Station on Scanlon's Bridge.

Favorite Dish: Bacon sandwich and a cup of milky coffee! Perfect before a day out on the bike!

Restaurant Name: Hythe Bay Fish Restaurant & Bar

The Hythe Bay Fish Restaurant is in a beautiful building right on the beach. It is privately owned and is very family friendly.

Sitting in the restaurant or on the terrace looking at the changing colours of the sea is amazing. It must be one of the best beach situations on the south coast.

In the summer one can eat out on the terrace or on the beach.

After a few changes of ownership, the restaurant is under new management.

Favorite Dish: Fish. A lot of it reputed to come from Griggs and other local fishermen that run their boats off Hythe beach about 400 yards from the restaurant....

Country pub recently under new management.

Has a good reputation locally for good food and also has theme nights - curry, spanish etc.

Restaurant Name: Brooks

Brooks has been in the High Street for a few years and ideally situated on the pedestrian part of the street*.

The menu stretches from tea and coffee for the thirsty shopper to full lunches and roast dinners.

* Most of the High Street is supposed to be pedestrian only between 11am and 3pm daily.

Favorite Dish: My favourite dish is actually cheese on toast. Usually accompanied with a pot of coffee and a newspaper as I wait for Mrs Kettleman to finish her sojourn in Hairways across the road.
