Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse to give it its full name is the village in the shadow of the massive Cathar Fortress of Peyrepertuse.
As with most of the Cathar Castles it was taken after siege in the Albigensian Crusade of 1208 onwards. The Catholics didn't like the idea that there may have been a religion, Christian at that, that was better than them. So they crushed it and as usual thousands had to die.
