My short-lived experience of Hungary was a great one. The transport system was excellent, the prices cheap, the hospitality good and the spas - smashing. I had never been to a land-locked country before and it was strange to think that no matter which direction I travelled in there would always be a different country to step into (seven of them). The population is just over ten million and 68% of the population are Roman Catholic. While Hungary has had a troubled history, the residents have managed to keep their own identity and culture intact (despite dealing with about thirty thousand tourists a year!). The professional graphic above shows an extremely detailed map of the route we took in the land of the Magyars! |

| Pros: | "Spa's, history, prices, excellent public transport system." | | Cons: | "Language barrier, going in March - you beat the bulk of the tourists but some attractions are shut :-(" |
