"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Welcome to my pages! And forgive me: I am literally about 10 trips behind in updating my travels!

A little about myself. I am a Seattle native. I work for the airlines, and therefore will probably never be able to bring myself to pay full price for an airline ticket ever again (gotta love those perks!) I am slowly marking off my list of places to see and things to do in this world.
Living in Seattle, I enjoy outdoor activities. In the summer you can find me wakeboarding, hiking or maybe even surfing. And during winter you'll probably catch me on the slopes- I am the one passing you on my snowboard, not the snowbunny keeping warm in the lodge.
I prefer not to make any solid plans when I travel- no itinerary means freedom to see and do and just be. I guess that translates into my everyday life as well.

"The World is a book ,and those who do not travel read only a page." ~St. Augustine
I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.
~Robert Louis Stevenson

Although by no means an expert, I also enjoy taking photos and documenting my travels.
I think that travel comes from some deep urge to see the world, like the urge that brings up a worm in an Irish bog to see the moon when it is full.
~Lord Dunsany

There's always time to fit in a pint with the locals or savor the local wine of a region. I have found that sidling up to a bar or pub can sometimes lead you to meet the most interesting characters and hear some great local stories and lore.
Temple Bar in Dublin- tourist trap!
One of my favorite ways to travel is to grab my two best friends and tell them to show up at the airport with their bags and passports. Sometimes we don't even have a destination in mind until we show up at the airport! We always have the best times AND the craziest stories no matter where we end up.

And I thought that only we "Southerners" had as many weird idiosyncracies as you listed in your Local Customs Tip. Loved it!
