County Galway is in the West of Ireland, has some magnificent scenery and everything you could wish for in a holiday in Ireland: The sea, mountains, lakes, rivers, ancient historic monuments and a lively, colourful capital with a good nightlife and lots of festivals during the year. In County Galway you will also find some of the few areas in Ireland where Gaelic is still spoken, the so-called Gaeltachts. This can be a bit confusing when trying to find your way around the country as many of the signposts are only in Gaelic, and you can only hazard a guess as to what place they are pointing to. If you are going to Rossaveal for example, you are on the right way if you follow the signs for "Ros an Mhil", okay? Have a look at my travelogue for some Galway impressions. |
