The Aran Islands (Inishmore, Inisheer and Inishmaan) off the Galway coast are full of prehistoric monuments. And stonewalls. They are a maze of stonewalls. On the Aran Islands the old way of life in Ireland still hangs on by a thread, and Gaelic is the first language.
Inishmore is the largest and most easily accessible of the three islands, and also sports the biggests attraction of the Aran Islands: Dun Aengus, a massive ancient ringfort. For exactly those reasons Inishmore is also the most touristy of the three islands. |
