"Paarl and the Winelands" Paarl by Krumel

Paarl Travel Guide: 27 reviews and 87 photos

Visiting the winelands east of Cape Town was to be our first stop after Cape Town. However, with neither of us being big into wine, we actually didn't go for any wine tasting there.

Instead, true to form, we found some animal-related activities just outside of Paarl, and spent the night at a lion sanctuary. On the way there we stopped in Stellenbosch for a while for a late brunch and a walk around the town.

Then after spending some time at Butterfly World we moved on to one of the highlights of our holiday, Drakenstein Lion Park.

We still got to appreciate the beauty of the winelands though when we were passing through them the following day on our way to Hermanus, and stopping in Franschhoek to see the Huguenot Memorial.
