Melbourne hosts the Australian Open Tennis which is the first of the four Grand Slams to be played each year (followed by the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open).
The last 2 weeks of January each year is the time to head to Melbourne if it is world class tennis you want to see.
The atmosphere is fantastic. The crowds flock to cheer on and to dress like their favourite tennis stars. There wouldn't be an Australian Open without the Swedes in the crowd having blue and yellow painted faces, or the Dutch fans all wearing orange !
A must see event !!
Equipment: Bring your sunglasses, sunscreen and a hat, because the summer is HOT.
