The history of Berlin starts in 1237. In 1307, together with Cologne it forms a coalition and becomes a member of the so called Hanse.From 1442 till 1448 it lost its independance. In 1709 on demand of King Friedrich I it become a Residenzstadt. In 1871 it became the Capital city of the german empire.After the second world war was Berlin devided into two parts: the Eastern(Russian) part en the Western (allied forces) part.In 1949 the GDR en West Germany were established.
On August, 13 the GDR had "the Wall" built in order to devide Berlin in an eastern and western part.
In 1987 the 750th anniversary of the -separated- city of Berlin was celebrated.
Due to a process of changes, the wall was opened on november 9, 1989.
East and West Germany became again one country and on the 3th of October, 1990, Berlin became the capital city of the united Germany.

When you love historic buildings, museums, history and nice people(f.i; when they see you watching the map they just ask by themselves if they can help you out on something) and not to forget ; the public transport is superb !!!!!!

From everywhere in the city, the TV tower is a remarcable monument.
Its the highest point in Belin. Views from up there are breathtaking.
