Baton Rouge, Home of the Tigers

by cynthi - last update: Feb 27, 2005

Baton Rouge, the capital of Lousiana, is the home of Louisiana State University ( GEAUX TIGERS! ), a lot of petrochemical industry, great food, and me.

The picture above was taken at the Old Governor's Mansion, home of Huey P. Long while he was in office in Baton Rouge.

There are many beautiful places to go to in Baton Rouge, I am partial to LSU (I go there). LSU is a spacious campus and home to over 30,000 students, with lots of green space and many old oak trees all over campus. In fact, the Alma Mater of LSU begins with... "Where stately oaks and broad magnolias shade inspiring halls". But more students know the LSU Fight Song...

Hey, Fightin' Tigers, Fight all the way
Play Fightin' Tigers, win the game today.
You've got the know how,
you're doing fine,
Hang on to the ball as you hit the wall
And smash right through the line
You've got to go for a touchdown
Run up the score.
Make Mike the Tiger stand right up and roar.
ROAR!
Give it all of your might as you fight tonight
and keep the goal in view.
Victory for L-S-U!

If you would like to LISTEN to the songs, go to LSU Sports Net and click on "songs of LSU"

I love Parrain's! The blackened alligator appetizer is EXCELLENT. I also love the half & half crawfish (etoufee and fried tails). The pork chop is like no other pork chop. AWESOME!

Great place to go! New place is as dirty as the old though. What's the deal with not taking credit cards?? Especially since this place is promoted as a tourist stop...Come on owner....suck up the few pennies per transaction and get a credit card machine!
