"Dutch University Town" Utrecht by Rixie
Utrecht Travel Guide: 624 reviews and 1,484 photos
Utrecht is a picturesque university town with winding cobblestone streets, canals, and bridges, a pleasant place to spend the day. It reminded me of Amsterdam but without the mobs and is located only half an hour from Rotterdam Centraal.
The train station is bizarrely laid out, so it took us a bit of time to find our way to the town center. Although it was a grey, rainy day, we still enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights.

I must remember that things tend to be closed on a Monday, we will be arriving there on a Monday, so that day we will just explore :-)
Glad to hear you saw some sunshine at least, we were drenched during our short visit which is a shame because it's a lovely city in parts and boating down the canal sounds fun.
Paddling around Utrecht sounds like fun!
yet another superb page. but i expected nothing less !
