Getting TO/AROUND: The Métro is a great system for getting around Paris. We bought 3-day Paris Visite passes, good for unlimited use of Métro, RER, and bus systems. They make travel so much easier! They're also valid on the funiculaire that goes up the hill to Sacré Coeur, and if you show your Paris Visite at the Tour Montparnasse, you get a 3 Euro discount.

At major stations there's a cool interactive board called an Indicateur d'Itineraire, to help you plot your trip. You push the button of your destination, and a path lights up on the map, showing you exactly where to go and which train(s) to take.

Each line has two directions, and RER and Métro trains carry signs showing their final destination. With a Métro map and a little mapbook called Plan de Paris par Arrondissement, you can find your way around the city with ease.
