Ther Bodensee region of Germany is one of the prettiest regions in all of Germany, maybe even all of Europe. Lake Constance is the largest lake in Germany. The lake borders the southern Swabian region of Germany, the southern Barvarian Forest, upper Austria, and upper Switzerland. One can buy a travel pass for 26 Euros and ride the ferries, trains, and buses throughout three countries bordering the lake for one price all day. This is a real bargain. The ferries are wonderful and run quite frequently. I did not find it difficult in anyway to travel completely around this huge lake. If you are looking to go to some of the best sites, you need to definitely visit, Lindau, Meersburg (my favorite), Bregenz, Austria, Konstance, Mainau, St. Gallen, to name a few. Lindau, a small village on the lakefront is beautifully landscaped and very old. The buildings both old and new are very tastefully decorated. Many artists sell their wares along the waterfront. Meersburg, a wine region, west of Lindau, is a quaint picturesqe village. There is a high town and a low town, many shops and eateries. I found a lakefront hotel, impeccably clean, with a great buffet breakfast, for a unheard of price of 39 euros for a single, a night during the week. The climate is quite mild and there is plenty of swiming areas.
