Earth NYC: A Memorable Night on EARTH

Nightlife Spot: Earth NYC
As I was searching out this year's venue for the annual Geisha Birthday Bash, I knew exactly what I was looking for: A cool hangout where my friends can lounge, drink, eat, and dance in an intimate atmosphere. Earth provided exactly that.
It was small enough so that we didn't get lost in the crowd, yet large enough to accomodate all 15 of us.
As you enter the dining room, you're welcomed into a large dining room with high ceilings and a wall lit with hundreds of flickering candles.
The menu provided yummy dishes with a Southeast Asian theme. They have a full-service bar, and the wait staff were very friendly to our rambunctious crowd.
You can casually enjoy your dinner, but starting at 11pm they start to move the crowd over to make room for the dancefloor. When the DJ subtlely starts to turn on the bass then you know it's time to shake some ass.
At midnight, the Belly Dancers come out and entertain the already well-fed, and well-drunken crowd.
It's a party within a party and the DJ spins every danceable tune that you can sing along with (Beyonce, Shakira, Old School metal, even Micheal Jackson makes a cameo in the music line-up)
We had a fantastic time at EARTH.
I was a happy happy birthday girl that night seeing my friends get down and get wild. When your guests can't remember a darn thing that happened the night before......you know your party was a huge success!

Dress Code: The crowd at Earth was casually stylish. No strict dress code, but keep in mind after 11pm, the Doormen get stricter and they start pulling the power on who gets past the velvet ropes. So dress to impress just to be safe.

Home/Guesthouse: Make Yourself at HOME!

Nightlife Spot: Home/Guesthouse
Okay, so it's 2am in Manhattan and after many many rounds of dirty martinis, champagne cocktails, and non-stop ass shakin' on the dancefloor throughout the night, your crew is seeing SWIRLS and your feet are begging for mercy in your 4 1/2 inch heels......Where do you go? HOME of course!
Not the "home" where you put on the velvet robe and bunny slippers.....it's Home sweet Home tucked away in Chelsea's "Velvet Rope Row."
After the knockout birthday bash at EARTH NYC, we moved the party to Home. It's located along Chelsea's West 27th St., known to locals as Velvet Rope Row because of its line of trendy clubs situated next to each other along this very busy party block.
Home is currently THE premiere nightclub where the space is decorated in a bordello-esque style, and really tries to make you feel as though you're dancing atop your own couches and tables at home (with hundreds of your closest friends!) It's sexy and decadent to be at Home.
The club offers 30 private VIP tables (where it's a minimum of 2 bottles per table @ $250 a POP, to consider yourself seated there)......and a full bar. Home is over-the-top, yes, but ohhhhhh so much fun once you're inside!
I didn't care much for the club "politics" it takes to just get past the snooty doormen and women so you can pay an obscene price for your alcohol fix....but when you're with a FUN group and some fast-talking New York City boys who can charm their way into getting us the BEST table in the house, then it makes it all worth it.
The music of choice in the club was old school, new school, and anything in between that I can shake my 'humps' to! By the time 4am came around and everyone was singing along to Guns n' Roses, I already started to feel quite at Home.

Dress Code: Be forewarned that you'll be given the head-to-toe inspection by the overly-flamboyant doormen.......So dress as if you might get caught in the background of the papparazzi pics of Lindsay Lohan or Nick Lachey.
The club is infested with supermodels and model hopefuls. If your friends are nice enough, they may toss a few hot models in your lap just for kicks!

Nightlife Spot: Centro-Fly
This was my second visit to Centro-Fly......I came here last year with friends as it was recommended by a local we met whilst shopping in the village. We had a great time last year and this year was no disppointment! We went on an evening that hosted a special event. I like the space at this venue. The main dance floor spins mainly Progressive House and Techno. There's a raised public bar , and an open lounge area further back with a 60s-style round bar and cool sunken seating. A separate DJ spins a different sound in the back room, and it's a cool place to *chill.* The downstairs Pinky Room with its own sound system spins mainly Hip Hop and Rap. All this and they serve apple martinis to die for. Outside you're in the hip surrounds of Gramercy Park.

Dress Code: No strict dress code here. Jeans are allowed......but wear COMFORTABLE shoes. The music is amazing and no matter how tired your body is, you'll still want to stay on the dancefloor.

Sound Factory: Where the "Vampires of New York City" mingle!

Nightlife Spot: Sound Factory
It's 4:30am and the party is just getting started at the Sound Factory. Although my feet were aching from dancing at the Copa...once I stepped into the "Trance" scene with the state-of-the-art sound system, I couldn't resist the dancefloor! The music gets your heart rate pumping and the lighting (albeit very DIM) puts you in a state of hypnosis and you can't sit down. It's a multi-level dancefloor with a stage full of perfomers and another dancefloor that spins "old school" house for the resident new generation of "NYC Break Dancers" who take over the floor. I must say, I was highly impressed with the amount of security they had at this place. Metal detectors, frisking security guards.....and very very strict rules on what you can bring inside. Be forewarned: No cameras are allowed on the premises. If you have one on you....they take your batteries away and leave you to remember to pick them up before you leave! Also, they confiscate your gum, mints, and any kind of "prescription" drugs! So for anyone looking to "roll wit' it" inside, you're SOL........

Nightlife Spot: Centro-Fly, Exit
Trying to decide where to spend your evenings in the city is definitely a task in itself. Especially when you are limited to only 2 full nights in Manhattan like my friends and I were! So many choices, so many venues. Whether you're bar-hopping, club-hopping, lounging, or trancing after-hours......the city has so many choices! We found the best way to decide is to ask the locals! One highly recommended location was 'Centro-Fly.' Great music, eclectic crowd, and...of course, EYE CANDY! Then there was the after-hours club, 'Exit.' The Saturday night venue we went to at Centro-Fly had deep house spinning on the main dance floor and old school jams in the lounge area. A lil bit o' something for everyone! After hours we headed to the club, 'Exit' which was hosting DJ Junior Vasquez's 'Earth' party. The place is on fire until 11am.......just in time for Sunday brunch at the park!

Dress Code: People weren't too over-dressed at Centro-Fly. It was definitely a party atmosphere so people were comfortably dressed to dance! At the after-hours club, 'Exit,' it was definitely more casual. Shirts and trousers were 'optional' with some party-goers!! Fully equipped with cage dancers and all-night trancers, this was certainly a scene to remember.....well....whatever one CAN remember at 5am!

I just started working, that year & couldn't afford it. It's still somewhere in my brains. |
