Every Day is Valentine's Day in Brugge

by Geisha_Girl - last update: Feb 26, 2004

Old World Charm

What more can a "Geisha" ask for?
This recent trip was my first time in Brugge, the charming town in northern Belgium that was known for being a former wealthy Flemish trading capital.

"Venice of the North" they have coined it.

The arrival into Brugge began with a group a friends to celebrate and have a lovely St. Valentine's dinner. First impressions of this medieval gem was how impressed I was that they were able to preserve the past with all of the well-maintained Renaissance buildings throughout the city.

One of the typical "romantic getaway" cities that makes me return to Europe over and over again.........
Okay, ONE more thing a "Geisha" can ask for!

And they have Horse-Drawn Carriages here TOO?!!

It was a treat to hear the galloping horse-drawn carriages down below from the window of our hotel room.

I couldn't wait til morning arrived so we could be whisked away on one of these!

(okay, okay......it's the LARA in Dr. Zhivago fantasy!)
Baby, it was COLD outside!

How we spent our days in Brrrrugge

We were right in the middle of winter in Brugge.............my favorite type of weather to stay in doors and "cuddle!"

You're right about the beer being a religion. Even the beer glass is shaped like a chalice!
