Just Be Yourself....but with a GEISHA Twist!

by Geisha_Girl - last update: May 1, 2008

MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA GIRL

TANGO (Vertical expression of a horizontal desire)
In life's eternal adventure, you must know what you are doing...
or know the woman who does.

Coming Soon:

THE PATAGONIA CHRONICLES!

Now Featuring:

"LIGHTNESS"

"St. Barths - No Inhibitions!"

"The Bad Grrrrl Guide to a BLING Wedding"

"Charm is arranging kindness, teasing, and wit into something that will please the ear."
--Shizuka Geisha

"A Geisha is like Prozac for your soul."
--Shizuka client.

It was Oscar Wilde who once said,
"I prefer women with a past. They're always so damned amusing to talk to." Well, I'm sure this past year in the life of the Geisha_Girl would make Oscar quite amused ....
if he wasn't so dead.

A REAL SIN-derella Story

Before I tell the story, let me start by saying this to my fellow VTers:
Take pride in the content that you put onto your VT pages. You never know who might be reading them.

Several weeks ago I received an email here on VT that read:

"I do like your writing/attitude, and would like to talk to you about maybe writing a featured column for a new upscale lifestyle magazine."

It was signed, Billy, with a phone number and link to a website attached.

I quickly read this and thought, "Is this guy FOR REAL?" Then I went on to answer the rest of my VT mail.

A week or so passed and I remembered that strange email again. I took a closer look at who this "Billy" was and that website he sent.

As it turned out, "Billy" was none other than renowned film producer Billy Clark, of Charter International Pictures

Other than surfing travel pages, Billy's other hobbies include signing movie deals with JOHNNY DEPP and ANGELINA JOLIE to star in his next big epic film about the life of Lord Byron, as well as promoting his indie film about legendary underworld bosses like the UK's Dave Courtney (check out the trailer for his film, "Hell to Pay.")

Aside from those "hobbies" Billy Clark launches new magazine publications. His visit to my VT pages led me to sign on as TRAVEL EDITOR for his new upscale magazine, "La Dolce West."

Me as Travel Editor? How did this happen?

Six times a year LA DOLCE WEST brings you the best of the three most desired destinations in the USA:

- The Beautiful and Romantic San Francisco Bay Area, the undeniable Fine Food and Wine Capital of America;
- Los Angeles, the home of Hollywood Celebrity and International Purveyor of Modern Cultural Trends; and
- Las Vegas - Glitz, Glamour, and SIN..The World's Most Exciting City!

Additionally, each issue of La Dolce West spotlights another international city: The Coolest Hotels in London, Single Women in Paris (Being One or Meeting One), A Romantic Week in Italy -- all brought to the reader in a way that helps them feel that they're a true part of the local scene, whatever or wherever it may be.

"Upscale but not out of reach, Sophisticated but not snooty; Passionate about living well but understanding that you don't have to be a millionaire to enjoy it...this is what our life, and our magazine, are all about."

BILLY CLARK, PUBLISHER/EDITOR

Each issue will feature a "Geisha_Girl" column and will spotlight some of my BEST experiences in the most fascinating cities around the world. It's basically what I do here on VirtualTourist..but getting paid for it!

More exciting times ahead! Who would've known that updating tips on VIRTUALTOURIST would lead to this?

(Have I mentioned that "IT JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER AND BETTER?")

These pages are dedicated to the friends...
(Hey Lemon-Drop crew, this includes ya'll!) and strangers from around the world who have touched my life throughout these journeys.

This is the world as seen through my eyes. This is the world that makes me smile...
Johnny and The Vixens

Moment in Time.....Timeless Moment

As I gear up for the next BIG travel adventure, it's always great when I can take a moment to look through images of past adventures and realize just how far I have traveled.......and all the amazing people I have met along my journey.

Someone once said photographs are a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever......it remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.

These are those moments, that when reminded, bring a smile back to my face.
We hit the BUBBLY before we hit the showers!

The Kili Crew

Rigorous training for months and then being stranded on a mountain for 7 days (sans showers, formal plumbing, and a decent cup of coffee) can make a gal bond quite quickly with a motley crew like this one.....my fellow Machame Masochists up on Mt. Kilimanjaro!

Our faithful guide carried our bottle of champagne all the way up to the summit with us, but we *officially* popped open the bubbly at the very end during our "We Killed the Kili" certification ceremony.

I look at this pic and remember that after 7 days of no shower and no bubble bath, I couldn't decide whether I should drink the champagne or BATHE in it !!
Behind-The-Scenes of "La Dolce West"

The REAL DEAL Makers

(From left to right: G_G; Film Producer and Editor-in-Chief Billy Clark; Hollywood Contributing Editor Greg Jones; and Senior Photographer/Creative Director, Eric Logan)

If someone were to tell me a year ago that I'd be rubbing shoulders and talking shop with some of these Hollywood Studio folks.....I woulda laughed up my cheese nibbles.

These are the gentlemen who will indulge my travel bug and make sure next time I decide something WHACKY ...like climb on the roof of another far-off country ----- I'm fully insured!!! :-)
Only in A'dam will you find THESE at a 'bookshop'

Very Sexy Champagne

This has got to rank high up on the list of my MOST FAVORITE VT MOMENTS.

Not only because I was in Amsterdam's Red Light District......not only because I was with my favorite Bad Grrrrrl (Fashionista)........not only because it was on Valentine's Day.......but because I absolutely loooooooooooooove those things!
(the champagne, of course)
Motorcycle Diaries: Zanzibar Style!

Land I Heard of Once in a Lullaby

All my dreams of a traveler were transformed into those few days living the experience on the island of Zanzibar.

I can still feel the blue.

I'm brushing up on the Swahili and dusting off the beach mats and mosquito nets.

A Return to Africa.
(Just to be absolutely sure it wasn't all a dream)
Paris Magic! (Rue Cler)

Traveling Around The Sphere

How do you put into words the most exciting, magnificent, fantabulous, exhilarating, elatingly breathtaking, awe-inspiring, mind blowing experience of your life?

The photos can never do it justice.
But there was one particular word that kept repeating itself over and over again as we traveled "spherically" across the globe.....

MAGIC

We came
We saw
We conquered the world!

What I Learned From My Dog

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in my face to be pure ecstasy.
When loved ones come home, I will always run to greet them.
Let others know when they have invaded my territory.

Take naps and stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
Be Loyal.

Never pretend to be something I am not.
If what I want lies buried, I will dig until I find it.
When someone is having a bad day, I will be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle him gently.

Thrive on attention, and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On a hot day, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want..... and if it's not wet and sloppy it's not a real kiss! (Thanks Parsix!)

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

WHERE 'DA
PARTY AT?

This site proves time and time again that when VIRTUALITY clashes with REALITY, it can be a beautiful thing!

Some memorable VT highlights thus far:

Breakfast of champions in Brussels!

Another BEAUTIFUL day in Paris!

WHOA, Tokyo !!!!

Rolling out the RED BULL CARPET! (Lady Boys optional!)

Brain Candy......

But today the way I play the game is not the same
No way
Think I'm gonna get me some happy

"We can never know what to want, because, living only one life, we can neither compare it with our previous lives nor perfect it in our lives to come."
- From Kundera's"Unbearable Lightness of Being"

"Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life."
- J. Kerouac

"It is not what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we are accountable."
- Moliere

"Total absence of humor renders life impossible."
- Colette

"I feel that there is an angel inside me whom I am constantly shocking. "
- Jean Cocteau

"...contrary to what the cynics say, distance is not for the fearful, it is for the bold. It's for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It's for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don't see it nearly enough..."
-Anonymous

"The happiness of day is not possible without the happiness of night. Happiness is a shared nirvana......
I Think, and that's why I do Love"
-Manuel E. Brito

And all I wanted was the simple things
A simple kind of life.....well........SOMEDAY I suppose!
(For now, simple DECADENCE will do!)

Now all those simple things are simply
too complicated for my life

How'd I get so faithful to my freedom?

"Vertical expression of a horizontal desire": I love it, tango as a mix of sensuality and fight. Your pages are not sponsored by Prozac. Thaannkks

That's lovely, especially in conjunction with the utilization of the filiform and fungiform papillae.. This practice is sometimes referred to as Gallic Osculation.
