Favorite Thing: Getting around New York can get confusing at times (especially downtown). Midtown is quite easy since all the streets are numbered. Downton, it's all names. Be sure to familiarize yourself with some of the main streets. If you see a brown sign it means that it is a historical district or neighborhood.

Favorite Thing: One of the things I absolutely love about New York is that one can escape all the busy streets and tall buildings and find themselves completely immersed in a park or forest thicket. Whether you decided to visit Central Park in Manhattan or the Botanical Gardens in the Bronx, you're sure to find a place to escape the city's "hustle and bustle".

Fondest Memory: One of our fondest memories took place at the New York Botanical Gardens. We were walking around the Water Lily Exhibition when this beautiful bird (which I initially mistook for a kingfisher) perched itself on a sign in the pond.

It wasn't the mere fact that it decided to take a rest there that was so special, this bird looked at everyone long enough to get a good picture of it almost smiling. All you had to do was whistle or snap your fingers and it would pose for the few seconds it took to capture an excellent picture of him. I never did find out what kind of bird it was though. Favorite Thing: You absolutely must visit New York during Christmas. The city turns into a Winter wonderland and the spirit is just fascinating. With the exception of Christmas 2001, Christmas is always best in New York.

Fondest Memory: My fondest memory of New York was spending Christmas Day with my family in New York. We all went to the Rockefeller Center and marveled at the Christmas tree. We walked around a city decorated with lights and cheer. It was one of the best Christmas's of my life.
