Statue of Liberty
When anyone asks me, "Where are you from Drew?" My answer is almost always, "New York." Most people internationally do not know New Jersey, so it's just much easier to say New York. In all honesty, I did grow up right across the Hudson river in Hudson County, NJ. I spent much of my youth in the various boroughs of New York City. From visiting family members to spending the day at the Bronx Zoo, my mom was always driving us somewhere in New York.

This marvel of a city is made up of a constantly moving, competitive, and diverse population. Anyone who has been to New York will know that virtually every nationality in the world is represented here. You are almost guaranteed to see an ethnic parade during the summer weekends. New York is a symbol of freedom and lady Liberty (above) is the apex of that symbolism.

When it comes to dining, we've got everything from your typical Amercian Grills to Ethiopian food! Nightlife is filled with tons of things to do from catching a ballgame or a show on broadway, a concert, a ballet, or even hitting some of the wildest clubs in the world, this is one city never short of something for you to do. When it comes to art, New York has it all. From free summer concerts in Central Park, to the smallest of art galleries, New York is truly an art center.

New York is also a center of education with Universities such as Columbia and New York University right in the heart of town. Add to this one of the largest libraries in any city, the New York Public LIbrary, and museums with exstensive collections. Looking for the latest in fashion and technology? New York is one of the fashion "Mecca's" of the world and one of the forefront cities in technology (just visit a fashion show or a techno expo). Architecturally, this city is amazing. From skyscrapers, to brownstones, it is all so elegant! In all honesty, most of what I have mentioned is in Manhattan alone.

There are still 4 more boroughs brimming with culture, entertainment, and so much to do. If New York gets to be too much excitement for you, Central Park, Battery Park, the Bronx Zoo, the Botanical Gardens, Bryant Park, and the Gatway National Recreation Area are just a few of the many places to sit back, relax, and recover your energy for more. If you're not sure where your next trip should take you, let me strongly suggest, the Big Apple... my home..my New York!

Pros:"Best city in the world. Diverse, cultured, and American"
Cons:"Hmmm...not always the friendliest of people (hey we have to get to work), and traffic."
In A Nutshell:"The big apple is my kind of city!"

I expected to see african american employees at this "Soul Food" restaurant. But, to my surprise they were mostly hispanic. I guess Amy Ruth's doesn't have as much soul as I thought.
