The largest park in Highland Park is called Donaldson Park. It is about a mile long and within it one finds tennis courts, a play ground, baseball and softball fiels, basketball courts, soccer field, boating ramp, and community gardens. Donaldson Park is also home to a number of indegenous NJ wildlife species (like Blue Jays, Grey Squirrels, Robins, and more). Also you find a very large number of Canada geese residing here. It's location alongside the Raritan River and the pond within it make it a great location for migratory birds. Also, you may encounter a heron from time to time.
Also, Donaldson Park offers a great location for viewing the 4th of July fireworks. Every year, visitors are entertained with an array of colors in the dark midnight blue sky! It gets crowded so get there early! The fire works are fired from close to Boyd Park in New Brunswick so aim to be by the basketball courts!
