Restaurant Name: Pad Thai

Pad Thai offers a wonderful selection of Thai dishes and they work wonders with their food. Most of the dishes Liz and I have tried have been exquisite. Add to this the fact that the prices are affordable and they prepare the dishes with extreme speed and you've got all the components you need for a great restaurant. It is a must! Don't feel bad if you think you're being rushed. They almost always get the food you order right!

One more important tip for Pad Thai. They will always ask you how spicy you want the meal. Unless you can deal with a veritable inferno in your mouth, go with no more than mild. Even if you ask for not spicy, you will still feel the natural Thai spices. Mild will surely add a little kick. Medium will require a gallon or two of water and you better prepare your will before trying spicy!

Oh and they do take out!

Favorite Dish: To be honest, the names are so hard to remember but almost every dish I've tried is superb! So be daring and try anything. It's all good.

Lastly, save room for the Mango and Sticky Rice desert! Absolutely delicious!

Restaurant Name: The Corner Confectionary

The Corner Confectionary is the most popular Ice Cream Shop in Highland Park. They make their own ice cream and have a decent selection of flavors. I've never been disappointed with the choices I've made. The prices are a bit high, but it is home-made afterall!

They also sell chocloates and gourmet coffees... but the Ice Cream is definitely their strongsuit!

Favorite Dish: The Pistachio and Chocolate flavors are both excellent!

Restaurant Name: China Star

China Star is a small takeout restaurant specializing in Chinese food (of course). They do have 5 tables for those who wish to dine in, but their food is excellent. My wife and I have eaten there for about 5 years. We go about once a week! To be honest, the only dish I think I can find better at other places is the Hot & Sour soup. Otherwise, I really love their cooking!

Favorite Dish: Singapore Chow Mai Fun.... This dish is absolutely amazing. It is a mixture of thin rice noodles, pork, shrimp, chicken, scallions, bean sprouts, egg, and flavored with a yellow curry sauce. It's my favorite! I also love their steamed dumplings!

Restaurant Name: Bagel Dish Cafe

The Bagel Dish Cafe is another of Highland Park's small restaurants. However it is almost always full for breakfast and lunch. Their selection is great and everything is wonderful! A strong recommendation for anyone visiting Highland Park.

Charlie Brown's is a chain that offers the diner an array of typical American dishes. They are best known for their steaks so I suggest you stick to that! Their food is good and you won't be disappointed if you visit.

Restaurant Name: Seven Hills of Instanbul

This restaurant serves a variety of traditional Turkish dishes all reasonably priced. I went their once and found some of the dishes too creative. My wife had a tough time picking things out as a vegetarian. We went with a group of about 12 people and most everyone else loved the place. I suppose we'll need to go back and venture further! It's closed Monday's!

Favorite Dish: From what I could remember, the hummus appetizer was excellent!
