Pompano Beach was a wonderful little surprise. We decided to stay here because it was the closest Marriott hotel to my aunt's house in Coconut Creek. Plus, the hotel was right on the beach. Suffice it to say that we were very pleased with our choice. While Pompano Beach itself is somewhat lacking in terms of retail options and restaurants right along the beach, it offers beautiful beaches (which serve as nesting sites for turtles between March and October), beautiful clear waters, and a wonderful view of the Hillsboro Inlet Lighthouse seen here. I would highly recommend anyone visiting the Ft. Lauderdale area consider staying at this somewhat quieter beach.

• Pros:Quiet, more in touch with nature
• Cons:No good restaurants within walking distance.
• In a nutshell:I plan on going back!
