The small town of Sankt Wolfgang Im Salzkammergut (also know as Sankt Wolfgang am Wolfgangsee) is a popular travel destination within Austria. It is famous for it's location on the Wolfgangsee (Lake Wolfgang), for the church which serves as a pilgrimage destination, and also for the Im Weissen Roessl (White Horse Inn).
St. Wolfgang was founded in 976 by the Bishop of Regensburg, Germany (who was later canonised) and has achieved renown as a place of pilgrimage.
The town itself has the same flair has other lakeside towns like Gmunden, and Hallstatt, but for some reason, each one is amazing in it's own way. Every town seems to have it's own way of doing things, it's own way of decorating, it's own culture. I think what makes St. Wolfgang unique is it's location between so many lakes and mountain ranges.
