Murau is a small village in Steiermark that offers the pleasures of a remote vacation while still having access to the real world. With a few ski slopes in the vicinity and authentic Austrian Huts for lodging, it's a great place to spend a few nights in the winter. We rented a cabin and spent the 2002 New Years there.

Murau is a lovely place... not only in Winter! We often passed it when we went to Bad Kleinkirchheim in Carinthia... and they also have a very good beer there!
