Elisabeth and I took off for a fleeting visit to London. We spent two days, and the lesser part of a third, there. We came in with a plan, see as much as possible in the little time we had there. We lived up to that promise. In two days, we managed to see most of the major tourist sites (thanks to the underground). London was a modern city filled with history. What separates London from New York is that New York is a completely modern city while London is both contemporary with it's skyscrapers and historic with it's castles, cathedrals and 2000+ year old history. It was quite amazing to gaze at skyscrapers while standing next to the Tower of London. This is the first place I have been to where I could do this. It was fascinating. I tried my best to document my trip on digital "film." What makes London so appealing to Americans in general is the shared language, the accessibility, and the cheap flights! If you're ever thinking of what to do for that extended weekend coming up soon, check London out. You won't regret it!
- Pros:Modern and yet historic, high culture, excellent restaraunts, pretty girls
- Cons:Too much drinking, expensive, the roads are backwards.
- In a nutshell:London is New York and thensome.

how can I have missed the sunken Dutch Gardens?? anyway, I HAVE to have a ride on the London eye!! so I have to return once again! Nice dramatic London skies in your photos! Thanks for perfect page, bes/elisabeth
I have stayed at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square twice now and find it comfortable. The location is great with a 3 or 4 moderate priced eateries between the hotel and Oxford Street. Good bus service or a short walk to Bond Street tube.
