Nightlife Spot: The Telegraph Hotel
The 'Telegraph' Hotel was established in the 1850s, it name commemorating the arrival in Hobart of the telegraph in 1857. This revolutionary system of communication with the world began its operations in the old Water Police building which once stood across the road from the Telegraph hotel. By 1900, the 'Telegraph' was teh waterside workers' pub.
Today it's just a pub with some dining options. It very traditionally decorated inside and they have a good variety of beers on tap. Why not go in and have one. I haven't tried the accommodations there so I'll leave that to someone else to write a tip about.
