"Guanajuato" Estado de Guanajuato by Erika74

This is the place I had always wanted to go to. It was a dream come true. We stayed at a hotel 1/2 a block from the city's plaza. No need to take a taxi anywhere. We did a lot of walking. All types of retaurants within walking distance.Tons of shops (all price ranges). We saw a bull fight, the first time in We caught a musical rondalla from a local school singing in the Plaza, with a mascot which was a pleasant surprise. Each evening there was a Mariachi group, who for a few bucks will play any song you ask them to. One night we caught up with a group for a "callejonada" that was a neat little experience. They walk down the streets singing, they sell some kind of drink- you keep the glass as a little momento- they end up where they started and do a little dancing.
The mercado did not smell good, but it looks like a lot of the locals purchase their food there.
We walked through "Paseo del Chorro" a park atmoshere that has a hill to climb. We saw a group of women doing laundry by hand.

Very colorful and authentic city.
Can't wait to go back.

I saw a bullfight for the first time in my life- I felt bad for the bull, but just being there really made me feel Mexican!
